Travel Smart Journeys Programme

Northeasterners, want to skip the morning rush on your way to work?

 If you are currently commuting via the North-East Line (NEL), you could benefit from Travel Smart Journeys (TSJ)—an initiative that lets you enjoy smoother journeys, fare savings, and reward points that can be redeemed for travel credits!

Enrol in the programme now — and if you are deemed eligible, you can re-mode and/or re-time your journeys to earn reward points worth up to 80% of your journey fares. 

P.S. Good news, Kovan MRT Station is now included in the TSJ programme! 

Re-mode

Switch from taking the train on the NEL to an eligible peak hour express bus service* during the morning operational hours and earn reward points worth 80% of the journey fare! A re-moded journey must fulfil both conditions listed below:

1. Board and tap in on an eligible bus service at any bus stop listed under the “Board” segment; and
2. Tap out and alight from the same bus at any of the bus stops listed under the “Alight” segment.

Re-time

Travel along NEL outside the morning peak period and earn reward points worth up to 80% of the journey fare. A re-timed journey must fulfil both conditions listed below:

1. Tap in before 7:15am or between 8:45am and 9:45am at Punggol Coast, Punggol, Sengkang, Buangkok, Hougang or Kovan MRT station, or any station on the Sengkang and Punggol LRT lines; and
2. Tap out at any MRT or LRT station, excluding the same MRT station you just tapped in at and all stations along the Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines.

Combination of re-mode and re-time

If your commute includes both re-mode and re-time, you can earn reward points based on the incentive percentage for either re-mode or re-time, whichever is higher.

1. Re-moded journey: Commuter takes a non-TSJ eligible bus service then transfers to a TSJ eligible bus service during morning operating hours (5:30am to 9:30am).

• Taps in on bus service 381 at Aft Soo Teck Station and taps out at Punggol Temp Interchange.
• Transfers and taps in on bus service 43e at Punggol Temp Interchange and taps out at Paya Lebar Exit B.

• Transfers and taps in on bus service 165 (non-TSJ eligible) at Hougang Central Interchange and taps out at Opp Ang Mo Kio station.

4. Re-timed and re-moded journey: Commuters taps in at selected NEL or Sengkang/Punggol LRT stations before 7:15am, then transfers to a TSJ eligible bus service.

• Taps in at Compassvale LRT station and taps out at Buangkok MRT station.
• Transfers and taps in on bus service 43e at Buangkok station Exit B and taps out at Paya Lebar station Exit B.

Enrolment for TSJ Programme 

To enrol for TSJ, check that you have fulfilled the following conditions in the preceding 30 calendar days prior to the day of your registration:

• Tap in on at least 6 weekdays (excluding public holidays) between 7:15am and 8:45am;
• Origin stations from –
  • Punggol Coast, Punggol, Sengkang, Buangkok, Hougang, Kovan MRT station, or
  • Any Punggol or Sengkang LRT station; and
• Destination stations – Any MRT or LRT station, excluding the same MRT station you just tapped in at and all stations on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines.
