The Travel Smart Journeys (TSJ) programme is an initiative by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to better distribute peak hour public transport demand for more comfortable rides and allow a more optimal use of the public transport infrastructure.
TSJ aims to achieve this by encouraging eligible commuters living in the Northeast region to switch to any of the TSJ eligible bus services during the morning operational hours or travel on the Northeast Line (NEL) outside the morning peak hours.
You can enrol for TSJ when you fulfil the following criteria:
• Registered for TSJ via the SimplyGo app;
• Tapped in* between 7:15am and 8:45am at either Punggol Coast, Punggol, Sengkang, Buangkok or Hougang MRT station, or any station along the Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines, on at least 6 weekdays (excluding public holidays) over the past 30 calendar days; and
• Tapped out* at any MRT or LRT station, excluding stations on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines.
Journeys that do not meet the criteria mentioned above will not be counted towards your enrolment (including journeys that fail to meet the criteria due to a train disruption, delay, etc.).
*Commuters will have to add and nominate a travel card (contactless Mastercard/Visa credit/debit card, SimplyGo Concession, SimplyGo EZ-Link, Concession, EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay card) in their SimplyGo account. It is recommended for the nominated travel card to be the commuter’s most frequently used travel card.
You may register for TSJ either through the “Services” or “Rewards” tab in the SimplyGo app.
You will need to nominate a travel card that is already added to your SimplyGo account. This travel card will be used to determine your eligibility for the programme, i.e. through the card’s travel records in the past 30 calendar days, and the awarding of points subsequently.
An email and an in-app notification* will be sent to eligible TSJ participants within 72 hours after registration.
Once eligible, participants will be able to access the TSJ dashboard in the SimplyGo app.
*The in-app notification will be sent to the Notification Inbox in the SimplyGo app. Please enable push notifications to receive prompt updates.
You will continue to be in the programme as long as you remain active by making eligible journeys and earning points.
If no activity is recorded for an extended period, a reminder notification will be sent to you on the fourth and fifth month of inactivity from your last eligible journey made. Your TSJ enrolment will expire after six consecutive months of inactivity, and the TSJ dashboard in the SimplyGo app will no longer be accessible thereafter.
To rejoin the programme, you will need to re-register. Your enrolment will be determined again based on your nominated travel card at the point of your re-registration.
A SimplyGo account is required to access the TSJ dashboard in the SimplyGo app, as well as for points accumulation.
You may register for a SimplyGo account through the SimplyGo app, available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Visit here, under “Account”, to find out how to create an account.
Any of the following travel cards can be nominated:
• Mastercard/Visa credit/debit card
• SimplyGo Concession/EZ-Link card
• Concession or EZ-Link card
• NETS Tap card
• NETS FlashPay

The nominated card should be used for transit payment and is registered in your SimplyGo account.
Corporate cards or staff passes issued by the Land Transport Authority or any Public Transport Operator will not be eligible for the TSJ programme.
Only one travel card can be nominated to determine your eligibility and for the awarding of points. You are encouraged to nominate your most frequently used travel card.
You can change your nominated travel card under “TSJ Settings” on the TSJ dashboard in the SimplyGo app. Please note that the change will take effect at 12 am the following day.
Points accumulated previously will remain in your account even after you have changed your nominated travel card. You will remain eligible as long as you are active in the programme by making eligible journeys and earning points within the preceding six calendar months.
After the change of nominated travel card, the awarding of points will be based on travel made using the new nominated travel card.
Once you are successfully enrolled in the Travel Smart Journeys (TSJ) programme, you will receive reward points for each eligible journey made using your nominated travel card on weekdays (excluding public holidays).
Points can be redeemed in blocks of 500 points, equivalent to $5.00 e-voucher that can be credited to your nominated travel card or any other travel card of your choice under your SimplyGo account.
You can redeem your points on the TSJ dashboard via the “Redeem Points” button in the SimplyGo app.
Please note that the points in your TSJ account are non-transferrable and will expire after six calendar months from the month in which the points are awarded if they are not redeemed.
For example, if 150 points are awarded on 15 April 2025, these 150 points will expire on 1 November 2025 if they are not redeemed as part of a block of 500 points before 1 November 2025.
Eligible journeys are categorised as:
1. Re-moded journeys – Instead of taking NEL train services, board any of the TSJ eligible bus services during the morning operating hours. Tap in at one of the bus stops under the “Board” segment and tap out from the same bus at one of the bus stops under the “Alight” segment.
2. Re-timed journeys – Instead of taking the NEL train between 7:15am and 8:45am, tap in before 7:15am or between 8:45am and 9:45am, at one of the following rail stations and tap out at any MRT or LRT stations, excluding stations along the Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines.
• Punggol Coast, Punggol, Sengkang, Buangkok or Hougang MRT station; or
• Any station along the Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines.
3. Journeys that consist of both re-moded and re-timed trips.
Journeys that do not meet the criteria stated above will not be eligible for any points (including trips that fail to meet the criteria due to a bus delay, traffic disruption, fail to tap in / tap out etc.).

Concession, EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay cards
Must be claimed at any self-help ticketing machine or Ticketing Service Centre.

Cash rewards that were credited to the contactless Mastercard/Visa credit/debit card before the card was reported lost/cancelled will not be refunded. You need to follow the terms and conditions of your bank card issuer on the handling of lost/cancelled card.
Cash rewards that failed to be credited to a contactless Mastercard/Visa credit/debit card after it was reported lost/cancelled will be credited back to your Travel Smart Journeys account in the form of points.

1. Place the concession, EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay card to which you have credited your cash rewards on the card reader.
2. At the Assisted Service Kiosk or Top-up Kiosk, select the “Vouchers & Rewards” button and the “Travel Credits” button at the SimplyGo Kiosk.

For example, if the cash reward is available for claim on 15 April 2025, the last day of claim will be on 31 July 2025.
Cash rewards that failed to be credited to a SimplyGo concession or SimplyGo EZ-Link card will be returned to your TSJ account in the form of points.
For cash rewards that were credited to a lost, expired, or corrupted concession, EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay card but not claimed, you can appeal to transfer them to a new card registered in your SimplyGo app via the SimplyGo eFeedback Form.
Any unused cash reward that had already been credited to the card before it was lost, expired, or corrupted will not be refunded.
You may withdraw from the programme through “TSJ Settings” on the TSJ dashboard in the SimplyGo app. This change will take effect the next day and cannot be undone.
Once you have withdrawn from the programme:
• You will no longer be able to earn points from TSJ eligible journeys.
• You will no longer receive any TSJ-related notifications.
• Points earned from past unprocessed journeys before withdrawal will still be awarded.
• You may redeem your available points before they expire.
• Once your points are fully redeemed or have expired, you will no longer have access to the TSJ dashboard.
• You will need to re-register to join the TSJ programme again. A reassessment of your eligibility will be conducted.
You will earn points for eligible journeys made using your nominated travel card up to the day you withdraw from TSJ. Please note that points from your last eligible journey may take up to 10 calendar days to appear in your TSJ dashboard.
You may continue to access the TSJ dashboard in the SimplyGo app and redeem any remaining points for cash rewards before the expiry date.
After you withdraw from the programme, the points accumulated previously will remain in your account until they expire. Any unredeemed points will still be available if you successfully rejoin TSJ before the points expire.
Please note that points will expire 6 months after the month they were awarded. Expired points cannot be reinstated.
For example, if 150 points are awarded on 15 January 2025, these 150 points will expire on 1 August 2025.
Upon submission of the withdrawal request, your withdrawal will take effect the next day. Your eligibility status will not be reinstated.
If you decide to re-register for TSJ, your eligibility status will be reassessed based on the travel card nominated at the time of re-registration.
