EZ-Link will donate S$50,000 to AWWA to advance their cause of supporting individuals in need across all ages to live out their dreams
SINGAPORE, 15 JULY 2024 – EZ-Link Pte Ltd has collaborated with multi-service social service agency AWWA to launch a series of four captivating EZ-Link card designs, created by clients of AWWA, on 15 July 2024. Together with a donation of S$50,000, EZ-Link seeks to raise awareness of the aspirations of the underprivileged in our community, from children to persons with additional needs, and the elderly, to lead fulfilling lives and calls the nation to uplift them towards their dreams.
‘New Beginnings’ EZ-Link cards featuring artwork created by clients of AWWA
‘New Beginnings’ – Poignant Works of Art
Themed ‘New Beginnings’, the card series comprises moving artworks representing a quiet yet indomitable conviction to tenaciously battle life’s adversities to foster better realities. Created by four of AWWA’s clients aged 14 to 80, the designs mirror AWWA’s mission of empowering the disadvantaged to maximise their potential to lead dignified and independent lives.
Fourteen-year-old Beanca, a client at AWWA’s Family Service Centre, has masterfully used watercolour to depict a family invigorated with new hope, as they witness a phoenix rising from ashes at dawn. AWWA operates one of Singapore’s earliest Family Service Centres and two Transitional Shelters that provide temporary accommodation for displaced families.
Using Q-tips, Alvin from the AWWA Home has ingeniously painted cherry blossoms to signify the essence of new beginnings, with a serene blue background embodying tranquillity. The Lunar New Year has a special place in the 27-year-old’s heart, reflecting his longing for love, warmth and joy during festive family gatherings.
Through her acrylic piece on canvas, Geetha is paying homage to time by illustrating a seedling blossoming into a magnificent flowering tree inside an hour glass. The 74-year-old from AWWA’s Dementia Day Care Centre has used bold colours and vivid imagery to denote confidence and courage to journey on towards triumph.
The acrylic painting of 80-year-old Helen portrays a Vanda Miss Joaquim, a symbol of elegance and adaptability, delicately cradled in the palm of a hand; with a tender shoot emerging as a testament to new life. Also a client of AWWA’s Dementia Day Care Centre, Helen expresses her credo to embrace fresh beginnings with serenity and steadfastness.
Building Dreams and Better Lives
EZ-Link’s S$50,000-donation will be used to support programmes that strengthen AWWA’s commitment to positively impacting the lives of over 6,000 clients across different life stages annually. As one of Singapore’s largest multi-service social service agencies, AWWA serves children with developmental needs, persons with disabilities, families facing complex social issues and the elderly, so that they can participate meaningfully in society and lead fulfilling lives.
“Both EZ-Link and AWWA share a staunch belief that no one in our society should be left behind, regardless of their backgrounds. Everyone deserves opportunities to create new beginnings and thrive in their life journeys. We hope that through the card series, our society will be inspired by the admirable valour and resilience of individuals who do not let the trials of life break them down; and lend a hand to make their dreams of a life brimming with purpose and contentment a reality,” said Mr. Nicholas Lee, the CEO of EZ-Link.
“An inclusive society is built with the collective efforts of many helping hands, and we are excited for this opportunity to partner with EZ-Link, and shine a spotlight on the resilience and strength of our clients. The theme of ‘New Beginnings’ resonates deeply with us, as it echoes our ethos of cultivating partnerships and harnessing synergy for success to provide high-quality and specially curated services so that our clients can thrive in tandem with their individual aspirations,” shared Mr. J R Karthikeyan, Chief Executive Officer, AWWA.
