The Google Pay app had a bug which resulted in public transport fare payments made using Google Pay to be erroneously displayed in the app recently. Google has since fixed the issue for the public transport transactions made using Google Pay to be reflected correctly in Google Pay app. Commuters using contactless bank cards and mobile wallets to pay public transport fares are encouraged to add their bank cards to the SimplyGo app to view detailed public transport fare payments and receive push notifications for fare deductions after each trip.
SimplyGo, an initiative launched by the Land Transport Authority in 2019, makes commuting easier and more convenient for commuters by providing a range of e-payments options for use on public transport.
| Account-Based Ticketing system | SimplyGo is an Account-Based Ticketing system that processes fare payments on the backend. |
|---|---|
| Card-Based Ticketing system | Transaction data is stored on cards and transactions are processed instantly when cards interface with payment terminals. |
These two systems are distinct when used in transit and ticketing management, with each offering its own unique features and operational methods.
SimplyGo allows commuters to pay via physical SimplyGo stored value cards, contactless bank cards (American Express, Mastercard, NETS and Visa), as well as with mobile phones and wearables.
You can convert your existing CBT card to SimplyGo at any ticketing service kiosk. Please note that the conversion is irreversible.
